The Sunniest Place On Earth |
|
Guinness shows Yuma, Arizona as the “sunniest place on Earth.” This could be construed as a negative during the long, hot summers, but it is also a big part of what is attracting so many to our spectacular desert home. I thought there should be a song to observe this appealing quality. This current version was recorded with my limited home recording equipment and I realize the quality may not be entirely adequate (this is not to say that with the best equipment my voice could be more than adequate), but I felt I needed to get it out there, and then perhaps post a better version later after I am able to improve it. This sleepy little border-town by the Colorado River has been a huge part of my life for the last seventeen years, and I hope this song properly offers some tribute to it.
The sun rises o’er the Foothills, sending greetings our way; The winding river is inviting, ‘cause here in Yuma it’s gonna’ be another sunny day.
It’s the sunniest place on earth. Here we know what daylight’s worth. You can come and fly in a clear, blue sky at the sunniest place on earth.
The possibilities are endless, when there’s sun in the sky. Yes the heat can be relentless, but here in Yuma that heat is always gonna’ be dry…
Cause it’s the sunniest place on earth. Here we know what daylight’s worth. You can come and fly in a clear, blue sky at the sunniest place on earth.
The sun sets beyond the sand dunes—and end to work and play; But tomorrow holds promise, ‘cause here in Yuma, there’s always another sunny day…
Cause it’s the sunniest place on earth. Here we know what daylight’s worth. You can come and fly in a clear, blue sky at the sunniest place on earth.
It’s the sunniest place on earth. Here we know what daylight’s worth. You can come and fly in a clear, blue sky at the sunniest place on earth.
Here in Yuma, it’s gonna’ be another sunny day. |
